Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Suitable for federal employment as determined by background investigation
- Pass a urinalysis drug test prior to appointment
- Selective Services registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- Complete online onboarding process with acceptable identification
- Serve a 1-year probationary period
- Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
- Ability to occasionally use heavy powered cleaning equipment weighing over 50 pounds
- Willingness to work in indoor and occasionally outdoor environments with exposure to various weather conditions
- Willingness to use personal protective equipment due to exposure to contagious diseases and bodily fluids
- Complete application by the closing date and submit all required documentation
- Able to meet physical requirements to handle cleaning duties effectively
Job Qualifications
- Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to perform manual cleaning tasks with attention to detail
- Experience with use of powered cleaning equipment is a plus
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights
- Good physical dexterity, coordination, and concentration
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety procedures
- Ability to follow policies and procedures in a healthcare environment
Job Duties
- Performs floor maintenance including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, dusting, and carpet cleaning
- Empties trash and wastebaskets, replaces liners, and transports refuse to collection areas
- Cleans restrooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms including disinfecting and deodorizing fixtures
- Replenishes supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap
- Moves and arranges furniture and patient care equipment to facilitate cleaning
- Provides bed-making services in patient care areas and cleans associated furnishings
- Removes soiled textiles and restocks clean textile closets, participates in inventory management
- Defrosts and cleans refrigerators and ice machines
- Cleans glass surfaces and replaces curtains and blinds as needed
- Cleans or replaces needle boxes and performs periodic cleaning of reusable medical equipment
- Provides guidance to compensated work therapy workers and performs additional assigned duties
