Job Requirements

U.S. citizenship
suitability for federal employment as determined by background investigation
passing urinalysis drug screening prior to appointment
selective service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
completion of online onboarding and verification of acceptable forms of identification
adherence to a one-year probationary period
compliance with influenza vaccination requirements or approved exemption
ability to work rotating schedules including weekends and holidays
availability to work in various locations within Northern California
submission of required documents such as resume
commitment to public service ideals and support of the U.S. Constitution

Job Qualifications

Ability to perform housekeeping duties of sufficient scope and quality as demonstrated by training or experience
proficiency in dexterity and safety to handle cleaning tools and equipment
capability to follow directions accurately
physical ability to handle weights and loads associated with housekeeping tasks
reliability and dependability in attendance and task completion
demonstrated special aptitude for housekeeping work
good work practices including attention to detail and cleanliness

Job Duties

Performing a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties in various VA healthcare settings
cleaning wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, and shower rooms
sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors, vacuuming carpets and upholstered furniture
emptying waste baskets and disposing of trash
cleaning light globes and Venetian blinds
washing walls, windows, and ceilings by climbing small ladders
refilling toilet tissue and towel dispensers
moving and repositioning furniture
carrying out assignments with minimal supervision
adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and safe patient environment
