Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to perform physical cleaning tasks
  • knowledge of infection control and isolation procedures
  • ability to operate and maintain janitorial equipment
  • ability to communicate clearly in English
  • basic computer literacy
  • ability to follow safety protocols
  • prior housekeeping or custodial experience preferred
  • ability to work day shifts
  • reliable and punctual
  • ability to handle biohazardous waste safely

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • environmental services experience within healthcare preferred
  • knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures
  • ability to maintain equipment and work areas clean and safe
  • able to communicate in English
  • basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard
  • able to operate computer using standard office software
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to interact with patients
  • able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets, product labels, and various reports
  • able to follow oral and written assignments
  • knowledge of additional languages preferred
  • housekeeping or custodial experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Clean assigned patient and public areas daily
  • collect and remove trash and sanitize all surfaces
  • stock paper items, cleaning solutions and other supplies
  • utilize Bed Management system to maintain bed flow
  • operate cleaning and janitorial equipment
  • collect and stage soiled linen for pick up
  • dispose of normal and biohazardous waste
  • clean and disinfect areas containing bodily fluids
  • document all work performed
  • access ancillary units, restrooms, and offices as assigned
