Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to follow established cleaning and disinfection protocols
  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices
  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with patients, visitors, and staff

Job Duties

  • Responsible for completing daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas
  • Perform duties demonstrating working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements
  • Display safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment
  • Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment as outlined in the standard work cart setup
  • Remove waste and transport it to appropriate disposal areas while identifying proper waste stream handling in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Follow infection prevention practices including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE)
