Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • experience working in a long-term care facility preferred
  • ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions
  • basic math skills
  • ability to solve practical problems
  • ability to interpret written and oral instructions
  • fluent in written and spoken English

  • basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • fluent in written and spoken English

Job Duties

  • Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors
  • maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms
  • maintain handrails to ensure they are clean and free of debris
  • clean and remove dust, dirt or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, towel dispensers
  • empty trash cans and replace liners
  • sweep and mop floors
  • utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents
  • use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following the user manual instructions
  • maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner
  • notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns
  • notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies are needing replenished
  • exhibit excellent customer skills and positive attitude
  • demonstrate excellent time-management skills
  • ability to work independently or with a team
