Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • Prior experience with cleaning and sanitation preferred
  • Ability to operate mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, washers and dryers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, patients and hospital staff
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
  • Willingness to work evening shifts, variable days and every other weekend
  • Ability to adhere to local, state and federal safety and sanitization regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • Knowledge of maintaining a sterile environment including proper cleaning procedures and various equipment
  • Ability to interpret data and instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Possess written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate basic environmental service equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve problems
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and staff

Job Duties

  • Perform a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain cleanliness of patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas
  • Handle transport, equipment handling, room set-up, trash removal, and linen handling duties
  • Distribute supplies to departments and maintain stock levels
  • Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, patients and other hospital personnel
  • Adhere to local, state and federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure sanitization and safety
  • Operate basic environmental service equipment including mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, washers and dryers
  • Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options
