Job Requirements
- Must have the ability to read, write, take verbal instruction and perform basic arithmetic
- Previous experience helpful
- Three to five days of instructions and at least 30 days on-the-job training required
- Safety sensitive position requiring adherence to St. Bernards substance abuse policy
- Ability to work in a normal hospital environment
- Normal or corrected eyesight
- Hearing within normal range
- Oral communication skills
- Frequent exposure to dust and fumes
- Exposure to chemical, electrical and mechanical hazards, blood and body fluids
- Continuous walking and standing
- Frequent bending, stooping
- Lifting up to 100lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing or pulling up to 250 lbs via a piece of equipment
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, take verbal instruction and perform basic arithmetic
- Previous experience helpful but not required
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff, physicians, and department managers
- Physical ability to perform frequent lifting, bending, stooping, walking, and standing
- Normal or corrected eyesight and hearing within normal range
- Knowledge of safety protocols and hospital environment
Job Duties
- Cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, utility rooms, ancillary areas, public areas, restrooms, and offices
- Trash removal and proper disposal of infectious and non-infectious waste
- Daily floor care maintenance including dust and wet mopping, vacuuming, wall washing, high and low dusting, furniture, blind and window cleaning
- Transporting patients to and from their room to various departments for testing and procedures
- Coordinating physical bed placement and gathering and cleaning equipment daily
- Maintaining equipment upkeep with assistance from bio-med
- Keeping hallways free and clear of equipment clutter
