Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in hotel or housekeeping operations preferred
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends
  • Physical ability to perform heavy work including lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to stand for entire shift
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, stoop, kneel and climb stairs
  • Ability to operate light housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners and dishwashers
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment properly
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Willingness to work long hours when necessary
  • Must be able to maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must be able to handle guest requests and work cooperatively with team

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of hotel, housekeeping and hotel laundry operations required
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work long hours when required
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Friendly, cooperative manner and patience in dealing with customers and staff
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English both written and verbal

  • Understanding of potential hazards and safety procedures involving cleaning agents and machinery
  • Integrity in ensuring security of guest belongings in occupied suites
  • Effective listening and communication skills to address guest and coworker concerns

Job Duties

  • Receives a list of rooms at the start of shift to identify rooms and public spaces to be cleaned during shift
  • Complete all pre-cleaning duties including guest supplies, cleaning supplies and linen for housekeeping cart set-up
  • Utilize both hands to perform tasks such as changing bed linens and scrubbing pots
  • Reach overhead to dust and clean tops of equipment and appliances
  • Move light furniture such as chairs and tables to clean underneath
  • Practice safe use of all cleaning agents and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Prepare housekeeping cart for the next day's use
  • Remove all trash and dirty linen from guest suites
  • Keep hallways, public areas and closets clean, neat and vacuumed
  • Report all missing items from rooms to Executive Housekeeper
  • Use two-way radios, telephones, general office equipment, industrial washers, dryers, irons, vacuums, floor buffers, wet vacs and other housekeeping equipment
  • Ensure proper care of housekeeping equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming in compliance with dress code
  • Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Comply with brand standards and regulations for safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments
  • Exhibit a helpful and willing attitude to serve guest requests
  • Communicate with other hotel staff to accommodate special guest requests
  • Participate in all-employee meetings, events and other functions as required by management
  • Be familiar with all policies, hotel rules and hotel terminology
