Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • must be able to work with cleaning agents
  • able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds
  • full range of movement and mobility in performance of duties including ability to bend, reach, push, and pull
  • general housekeeping experience
  • valid PA driver’s license
  • proof of completed mandated child abuse recognition training meeting PA Act 153 standards within 30 days of employment with recurrent training every five years
  • meets Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check
  • must have an understanding of and appreciation for the mission of The Salvation Army

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • general housekeeping experience
  • valid PA driver’s license
  • knowledge and skill in cleaning and general maintenance
  • ability to operate cleaning agents safely
  • ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds
  • full range of movement and mobility required for duties including bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • understanding and appreciation for the mission of The Salvation Army
  • completion of mandated child abuse recognition training within 30 days of employment
  • compliance with Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153

Job Duties

  • Sweep, dust, scrub and clean Divisional Headquarters facility
  • disinfect lavatories including sinks, toilets and floors, as well as the water fountains in the hallway
  • empty all trash and garbage containers
  • notify the Lead Maintenance Worker concerning needs for repairs, safety needs and security concerns
  • clean mirrors and glass throughout the building
  • keep kitchen, kitchen equipment, lunchroom, refrigerators, and microwaves clean
  • assist with room set-ups
  • assist with beverage preparation throughout the morning and lunch time hours, cleaning coffee pot before leaving for the day
  • assist in transportation of items to various locations upon request
  • mail pick-delivery
  • maintain open lines of communication with all staff members
  • ensure strict adherence to all housekeeping protocols to ensure that materials not clearly labeled as trash are not disposed of without specific instructions
  • assist with DHQ Maintenance responsibilities such as opening and closing of building, pick-ups and deliveries
  • assist Maintenance when needed with floor care and finishing, repair and maintenance of DHQ Building, equipment and grounds
  • demonstrate knowledge and skill in cleaning and general maintenance including painting, carpet cleaning, floor and tile stripping/waxing, snow removal/lawn care for entire complex
