Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Strong interpersonal skills with empathy and respect for others
  • Physical ability to perform required lifting and movement
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development
  • Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols

Job Duties

  • Provide services to ensure nursing units, ancillary areas, resident rooms, and resident care areas are clean and sanitary and kept neat and orderly
  • Speak, read, and understand English sufficiently to receive oral instructions, document, and communicate effectively with residents and co-workers
  • Conduct oneself with integrity, respect, and empathy when interacting with staff, residents, and families
  • Lift up to 35 pounds and perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, reaching 90% of the shift, and occasionally climbing ladders
  • Attend in-service training programs and demonstrate an interest in learning
  • Adapt flexibly to changes in procedures and assignments
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers in a flexible and positive manner
  • Organize workload to completion according to policies and procedures
  • Maintain reliability and punctuality in attendance
  • Participate in warm-up exercises to reduce injury risk
  • Adhere to safety programs and established policies within Environmental Services and facility-wide
  • Keep equipment and surfaces clean, sanitary, and orderly using appropriate disinfectants
  • Perform deep cleaning of vacated resident rooms as required
  • Wash hands frequently and practice appropriate infection control measures
  • Wear gloves and protective equipment as needed
  • Clean high-touch surfaces daily
  • Clean bathrooms thoroughly and maintain floors and carpets
  • Make beds and change linens regularly
  • Clean service sinks and wet mop floors with caution signs
  • Handle waste and garbage removal following policies
  • Maintain the housekeeping closet orderly and locked
  • Follow isolation precautions and wear protective gowns, gloves, and masks when indicated
  • Clean patient point-of-care equipment twice daily
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and announce presence before entering rooms
  • Participate in the safety committee
  • Assist with QAPI studies, surveys, and self-inspections
  • Demonstrate customer service excellence
  • Rotate into laundry duties on weekends
  • Complete required online training courses via Relias Learning Management System
