Job Description

This position is with a healthcare-focused Environmental Services department dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for residents and staff within a long-term care facility. The department plays a critical role in ensuring that high standards of cleanliness and infection control are consistently upheld, thus promoting the wellbeing and comfort of all individuals who live and work in the facility. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED diploma preferred
  • current/active Food Handlers Permit (ALF only)
  • must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • must be able to add, subtract, multiply and perform basic math computations
  • previous long term care experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Carries out all cleaning duties as directed by the Environmental Services Director according to required department policies and procedures
  • ensures daily and deep cleaning schedules are adhered to
  • maintains a high standard of personal presentation and hygiene
  • ensures cleaning equipment is correctly and safely used and kept in safe condition
  • reports defects to the department director
  • practices sensitivity to residents' privacy and individual needs
  • adheres to infection control policies and personal protective equipment requirements
  • completes all necessary documentation daily
  • dusts furniture, woodwork, equipment, and dust-mops floors
  • polishes and cleans fixtures in rooms and bathrooms
  • operates environmental services equipment such as vacuums, floor cleaners, buffers, and shampooers
  • wet-mops rooms, halls, and other areas and shampoos rugs and furniture
  • cleans vents, fan fixtures, windows, door frames, and other high surfaces
  • gathers and disposes of trash using specified bags and containers
  • moves furniture and heavy objects as required
  • performs terminal cleaning procedures of resident rooms and prepares rooms for new admissions
  • follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms
  • cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms
  • makes supply packs for departments and puts linen stacks in carts for distribution
  • takes and delivers supply requests
  • delivers linen to departments according to pre-established par levels and schedules
  • keeps work areas neat and orderly
  • assists with other cleaning duties as assigned
  • treats residents with dignity and respect
  • promotes and protects residents' rights
  • adheres to facility policies and state/federal regulations
  • follows safety and hygiene measures
  • maintains confidentiality of protected health information
  • reports noncompliance or breaches in confidentiality
  • reports allegations of abuse or neglect
  • participates in life safety and emergency drills
  • reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately
  • completes all assigned training and skills competency
