Job Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- must be at least 21 years of age
- understanding of safety practices and procedures
- ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment
- ability to positively interact with employees and volunteers
- ability to demonstrate teamwork
- organized and self-motivated
- legible handwriting and good English communication skills
- ability to respond well under stress
- ability to learn zoo facilities and botanical species
- pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- willingness to work varied hours including weekends and holidays
- ability to work near exotic and domestic animals safely

Job Duties
- Exemplify Zoo Knoxville core values through interactions with guests and team members
- follow procedures and guidelines related to care of grounds and facilities
- perform routinely scheduled housekeeping operations including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, and restocking supplies
- conduct periodic activities such as snow removal, floor maintenance, and deep cleaning of facilities
- safely operate housekeeping and grounds equipment including trucks, carts, ladders, blowers, sweepers, and hand tools
- maintain quality, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of all park areas
- assist in setup and removal of special exhibits and events
- adhere to safety procedures and guidelines
- complete daily reports on activities, equipment use, and time management
- collaborate with other zoo departments to ensure positive guest experience
- demonstrate continued interest and knowledge in housekeeping advancements
- comply with all governmental and regulatory policies including OSHA, ADA, EPA, and more
- uphold professional appearance and wear standard uniform
- perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors and leadership team
