Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to mix and handle cleaning chemicals safely
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning duties including lifting and moving furniture
  • Reliable and punctual attendance
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Commitment to resident safety and privacy
  • Flexibility to work per diem, part-time hours
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Some experience in a long-term care setting preferred
  • Ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks effectively

Job Duties

  • Follow cleaning assignments, fill housekeeping carts with materials and supplies, mix cleaning solutions and transport them to work areas
  • Clean assigned areas by washing furnishings, tile fixtures and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions
  • Clean, sanitize and maintain all resident rooms, bathrooms and offices within specific schedules
  • Remove soiled bed linens from residents rooms, make beds with fresh linens if assigned
  • Sweep and mop all floor areas, vacuum carpets using light vacuum, spot clean carpets, arrange furniture and equipment after cleaning
  • Dispose of trash by emptying wastebaskets and bringing trash to the dumpster
  • Bring resident or facility laundry to laundry room and launder properly if assigned
  • Visually inspect area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness and neatness
  • Clean and perform routine maintenance on sanitation equipment and notify supervisor of equipment needing repair
  • Follow all safety and infection control procedures according to federal, state and facility policies
  • Promote and participate in educational programs including fire safety, infection control, disaster response, hazard communication, resident rights, blood borne pathogens, corporate compliance and annual PPD requirements
