Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
  • ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks
  • physical ability to move furniture, equipment and supplies
  • ability to follow safety and infection control protocols

Job Duties

  • Follows cleaning assignments, fills housekeeping carts with materials and supplies, mixes cleaning solutions and transports them to work areas
  • cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, tile fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions
  • cleans, sanitizes, and maintains all resident rooms, bathrooms, and offices within specific schedules
  • sanitizes and polishes sinks, tubs, toilets, brass, mirrors and similar fixtures
  • removes soiled bed linens, makes beds with fresh linens if assigned, and cleans furniture upon resident discharge
  • sweeps and mops all floor areas, vacuums carpets using light vacuum, spot cleans carpets with appropriate solutions, arranges furniture and equipment after cleaning
  • disposes of trash by emptying wastebaskets and bringing trash to the dumpster
  • washes and launders resident or facility laundry if assigned and returns clean laundry appropriately
  • inspects areas after cleaning to ensure cleanliness and neatness
  • cleans and maintains sanitation equipment and notifies supervisor of equipment needing repair
  • follows all safety and infection control procedures to ensure the safety of residents, co-workers, and facility property
  • participates in ongoing education programs including fire safety, infection control, disaster response and other required training
