Job Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical cleaning tasks including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
  • ability to follow instructions and facility policies
  • willingness to maintain confidentiality and respect resident privacy
  • ability to use personal protective equipment properly
  • commitment to safety procedures especially when handling chemicals
  • availability to work part-time hours
  • basic literacy and numeracy skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior housekeeping or cleaning experience in a healthcare or similar setting preferred
  • ability to understand and follow health and safety protocols
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • attention to detail and reliability

Job Duties

  • Cleans assigned resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily and according to facility policy while maintaining resident's privacy
  • washes beds and mattresses and remakes beds after discharge of residents
  • keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition
  • disinfects and sterilizes equipment and supplies
  • posts signs indicating a safety hazard when housekeeping activities pose environmental risks
  • dusts furniture, handrails, and equipment
  • washes walls, ceilings, and woodwork
  • washes windows, door panels, and sills
  • empties wastebaskets including biohazardous waste according to facility procedures
  • transports trash and waste to disposal area
  • uses personal protective equipment when exposed to hazardous body fluids
  • complies with safety instructions when using chemical substances and keeps chemicals in original containers
  • monitors workplace for safety and fire hazards and reports problems
  • participates in fire and disaster drills and performs assigned duties during emergencies to ensure resident safety
