Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in housekeeping or custodial work preferred
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely
- Ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Availability to work night shifts
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment
- Must be able to work flexible hours including emergency situations
- Commitment to sustainability and safety guidelines
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in custodial or housekeeping work preferred
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment
- Ability to follow safety procedures and wear PPE
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas including residence halls, apartments, academic buildings, classrooms, athletic and recreational facilities, offices, and service areas
- Clean doors and glass entrances
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust assigned areas including corridors, stairwells, offices, lounges, kitchens, and entrances
- Properly remove trash and recycling to support sustainability initiatives
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, showers, and maintain supplies
- Clean laundry rooms, laundry equipment, locker rooms, classrooms including chalkboards and whiteboards, desks, chairs and lecterns
- Clean laboratories according to Laboratory Protocol
- Complete detailed and project cleaning for assigned areas
- Maintain janitor closets and storage areas, order supplies, ensure equipment is functional and cleaned after use, report malfunctions
- Work with building coordinator to arrange spaces for events and meetings, set up furniture, complete service requests, report vandalism or theft
- Shovel snow and apply ice melt if applicable, monitor snow and ice control for pedestrian safety
- Comply with safety rules, wear appropriate PPE, clean hazardous materials correctly
- Cover for absent coworkers and perform other assigned duties
