Job Requirements

  • Employees must be at least 18 years of age
  • ability to read, write and follow simple English instructions
  • availability to work night shifts including holidays and weekends
  • capability to stand for extended periods up to eight hours
  • ability to perform physical tasks such as moving furniture and using ladders
  • compliance with hospital policies and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and follow simple English instructions
  • three to six months experience as a houseworker preferred
  • knowledge of hospital cleaning standards preferred
  • basic understanding of safety and infection control practices preferred
  • strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • good communication skills
  • physically able to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • reliability and punctuality

Job Duties

  • Performs standard cleaning procedures in all hospital and building areas including patient rooms and surgery units
  • performs high dusting, spot cleaning walls, windows and doors, disinfects surfaces, mops floors, vacuums carpets, empties trash, and polishes fixtures
  • burnishes and cleans floors with automatic floor machines
  • performs check out cleaning including making beds for discharged and transfer units
  • picks up and transports trash to compactor pick up area
  • moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms
  • collects soiled linen and delivers clean linen
  • removes and hangs cubicle curtains and drapes
  • washes inside windows using a ladder occasionally
  • maintains equipment cleanliness and reports repairs
  • complies with emergency procedures and hospital policies
  • attends meetings and training sessions
  • demonstrates quality improvement use
  • complies with health and safety regulations
  • respects diversity and maintains professionalism
  • maintains reliable attendance
  • performs other related duties as directed
