Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- On-the-job training provided
- Ability to understand basic housekeeping tasks consistent with facility priorities, policies and procedures
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must possess functional sight and hearing senses or prosthetics
- Must be able to function independently with flexibility and personal integrity
- Must meet general health requirements including medical and physical exam
- Able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset individuals
- Must be able to push, pull, move or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry that weight for 50 feet
- May assist in evacuation during emergencies
- Work performed in environmentally controlled, multi-level facilities
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English proficiently
- Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions
- Excellent communication skills and tact in dealing with residents, family, and team members
- Ability to perform regular sanitation and safety inspections
- Flexibility and ability to work harmoniously with team members and residents
- Willingness to adopt new housekeeping methods and practices
- Ability to follow mixing instructions for cleaning solutions
- Competent in relaying resident condition information to nursing staff
- Meet health requirements through medical and physical examination
Job Duties
- Clean and disinfect equipment and supplies following infection prevention procedures
- Monitor environment for potential hazards
- Clean vacant rooms as assigned
- Ensure proper disposal of infectious waste into appropriate containers
- Carry cleaning cloths, tissue, paper towels, and cleaning supplies using sanitary techniques
- Secure cleaning chemicals at all times
- Discard waste and trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles
- Maintain cleanliness and order in work/assignment areas and properly store equipment and supplies
- Report accidents and incidents to Housekeeping Supervisor
- Attend required skill development events and complete competencies
- Provide orientation, training, and mentoring for new team members
- Attend annual facility in-service training programs
- Maintain awareness of resident rights and ensure resident privacy at all times
