Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous housekeeping or custodial experience preferred
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for long periods
- Willingness to work flexible hours including before or after regular work hours and during emergencies
- Ability to use cleaning equipment safely and effectively
- Must comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Job Qualifications

- Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience preferred
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Effective communication skills
Job Duties
- Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas including residence halls, apartments, academic buildings, classrooms, athletic/recreational facilities, offices, and service areas
- Clean doors, glass entrances, vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust corridors, stairwells, offices, lounges, kitchens, and entrances
- Properly remove trash and recycling to support sustainability initiatives
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms maintaining supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap
- Clean and disinfect showers, laundry rooms, laundry equipment, locker rooms, classrooms including chalkboards, whiteboards, desks, chairs and lecterns, and laboratories according to protocol
- Complete detail and project cleaning for assigned areas while keeping supervisors informed
- Maintain janitor closets and storage areas in a clean organized manner and order supplies to maintain inventory
- Ensure cleaning equipment is kept in good working condition and wipe down after each use
- Work with building coordinators to arrange spaces for events and set up tables and chairs
- Shovel snow and apply ice melt in assigned areas and assist with additional areas to maintain campus safety
- Comply with safety rules and wear appropriate PPE
- Cover for absent coworkers and perform other duties as assigned
