Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- One year experience in a health care facility preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to maintain safe and clean housekeeping areas
- Ability to work harmoniously with others
- Willingness to learn and incorporate new housekeeping methods
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks

Job Duties
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments and established housekeeping procedures
- Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner
- Follow established infection control practices when performing housekeeping measures
- Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies
- Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, heating and cooling units in resident rooms and recreational areas daily as instructed
- Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures
- Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways
- Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting
- Clean carpets by vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting
- Clean walls and ceiling by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing
- Remove dirt, dust, grease, and films from surfaces using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions
- Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators
- Discard waste and trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners
- Report all hazardous conditions or equipment
- Ensure work and assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies are properly stored at all times
- Maintain an adequate inventory of housekeeping supplies
- Report burned out light bulbs and other lighting issues to supervisor
- Perform terminal cleaning procedures when a resident is discharged or transferred
- Follow work and cleaning procedure schedules
- Follow established fire-safety policies and procedures
- Assist others in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as directed
- Report all accidents and incidents to supervisor
- Maintain the confidentiality of resident-care information
- Honor the resident's personal property
- Turn in all found articles to supervisor
- Attend departmental and staff meetings
- Keep work and assignment areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles and unnecessary supplies
