Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work full time including variable weekends
- Willingness to comply with Corewell Health's vaccination requirements, including MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Influenza vaccines
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals safely
- Good physical stamina to perform cleaning duties
- Ability to follow safety procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability to interact comfortably and warmly with patients, families, and visitors
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing standards in a healthcare environment
- Basic understanding of the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Ability to follow safety protocols and participate in safety initiatives
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience in housekeeping or environmental services preferred
Job Duties
- Interact with patients, families, and visitors with a warm smile and friendly demeanor
- Clean patient rooms daily by sanitizing surfaces, spot washing walls and windows, removing trash and linen, and cleaning restrooms
- Clean ancillary areas such as nurses stations, med rooms, pantries, utility rooms, storage rooms, waiting rooms, locker rooms, break rooms, and offices
- Clean specialty areas including OR Suites, Pre-Op and Post-Op areas, Emergency Department, Intensive and Critical Care Units, Labor Delivery Units, Pediatric Units, Mental Health Units, Oncology, Radiology, Labs, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Geriatrics, and Kitchen areas
- Perform cleaning tasks including sanitizing surfaces, vacuuming, dust mopping, damp mopping, low dusting, high dusting, stocking supplies, removing trash and soiled linen, and delivering clean linen
- Use appropriate chemicals and follow guidelines for cleaning
- Participate actively in safety initiatives and complete all safety-related competencies and requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
