Job Requirements

  • high school graduate or equivalent
  • able to comfortably interact with patients, families, and visitors
  • ability to perform cleaning and sanitizing tasks
  • able to work full-time day shift including every other weekend
  • willingness to use chemicals safely and follow safety protocols
  • ability to complete safety-related competencies and training
  • compliance with vaccination requirements as specified by Corewell Health
  • commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace

Job Duties

  • interact with patients, families, and visitors with a warm smile and friendly demeanor
  • clean patient rooms daily, sanitizing surfaces, spot washing walls and windows, removing trash and linen, and sanitizing restrooms
  • clean ancillary areas including nurses' stations, medication rooms, pantries, utility rooms, storage rooms, waiting rooms, locker rooms, break rooms, offices, and other non-specified areas
  • clean specialty areas such as OR suites, pre-op and post-op areas, emergency department, intensive and critical care units, labor delivery units, pediatric units, mental health units, oncology, radiology, labs, physical therapy and occupational therapy, pharmacy, geriatrics, kitchen areas, and more
  • perform cleaning tasks including vacuuming, dust mopping, damp mopping, low dusting, high dusting, stocking supplies, removing trash and soiled linen, and delivering clean linen
  • use appropriate chemicals and follow cleaning guidelines
  • actively participate in safety initiatives and complete all safety competencies
  • perform other duties as assigned
