Job Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of the Housekeeper II in-service program within the first 90 days of hire
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid Illinois Driver's License
  • Post offer physical is required
  • Pre-employment background check is required
  • Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force frequently
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in temperature-controlled and varying environments
  • Willingness to wear proper uniform and safety shoes/boots
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment including gloves and safety glasses

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of the Housekeeper II in-service program within the first 90 days of hire
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License
  • Ability to operate floor stripping and waxing machines
  • Ability to operate carpet shampooing equipment
  • Experience in performing housekeeping duties in a healthcare or similar facility
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning methods and safe handling of cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with residents
  • Physical ability to perform medium work including lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Commitment to workplace safety and use of personal protective equipment
  • Ability to perform resident transportation safely using a van with lift gate

Job Duties

  • Strips and waxes floors utilizing a self-propelled stripping and waxing machine
  • shampoos carpet utilizing an automated, self-propelled carpet shampooer
  • sweeps, mops, dusts, collects and removes trash bags and recycling bins to bring to the dumpster and compactor, and operates the trash compactor
  • interacts with residents, and assists with moving them and serving their trays
  • makes beds, changes linens, cleans under beds, empties dirty utility and linen carts, keeps linen and utility areas clean
  • fills oxygen canisters and distributes oxygen to nursing units
  • performs resident transportation services utilizing a van with a lift gate
  • performs exterior snow removal at Care Center entrances and patios using a shovel and applying deicing salt
  • moves boxes and shipping pallets to storage rooms and moves carts of chairs, loads/unloads carts of chairs and arranges chairs to set up and break down rooms
