Job Requirements
- must be able to read and write in order to read labels and containers of chemicals used, order supplies, complete inventories
- high school graduate preferred
- minimum of six months previous hospital housekeeping or janitorial or a minimum of one-year experience related to this position
Job Qualifications
- good communication skills
- demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide housekeeping services appropriate to age-related disability needs of the patients served
- ability and willingness to supervise and work cooperatively with others
- considerable initiative and judgment involved in leading housekeeping in providing an aseptically clean environment
- working knowledge of infection control, safety principles, and share training
- successfully complete CPR certification
- complete an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program
Job Duties
- clean and sanitize all areas of the facility in accordance with established policies
- clean and disinfect patients' rooms and baths daily
- perform terminal cleaning after transfer or discharges 100 percent of the time
- clean, empty, dust, sanitize nursing stations, non-patient care areas, laundry room, restrooms, sitting rooms and dining rooms daily
- dust and mop all hard floors
- buff, strip, wax as needed for hard floors
- shampoo carpets when needed
- clean drapes
- follow infection control procedures for isolation cleaning 100 percent of the time
- use universal precautions 100 percent of the time
- collect and distribute clean linen and contain soiled linen in proper containers
- follow procedures for disposal of biohazard waste and other waste
- follow directions for use of cleaning chemicals
- clean, maintain and monitor equipment in good condition at all times
- monitor, order and use linen in a cost-effective manner
- report broken, defective patient care/room equipment
- complete work request for repairs
- perform other duties and projects as assigned
