Job Requirements

  • must be able to read and write in order to read labels and containers of chemicals used, order supplies, complete inventories
  • high school graduate preferred
  • minimum of six months previous hospital housekeeping or janitorial or a minimum of one-year experience related to this position

Job Qualifications

  • good communication skills
  • demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide housekeeping services appropriate to age-related disability needs of the patients served
  • ability and willingness to supervise and work cooperatively with others
  • considerable initiative and judgment involved in leading housekeeping in providing an aseptically clean environment
  • working knowledge of infection control, safety principles, and share training
  • successfully complete CPR certification
  • complete an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program

Job Duties

  • clean and sanitize all areas of the facility in accordance with established policies
  • clean and disinfect patients' rooms and baths daily
  • perform terminal cleaning after transfer or discharges 100 percent of the time
  • clean, empty, dust, sanitize nursing stations, non-patient care areas, laundry room, restrooms, sitting rooms and dining rooms daily
  • dust and mop all hard floors
  • buff, strip, wax as needed for hard floors
  • shampoo carpets when needed
  • clean drapes
  • follow infection control procedures for isolation cleaning 100 percent of the time
  • use universal precautions 100 percent of the time
  • collect and distribute clean linen and contain soiled linen in proper containers
  • follow procedures for disposal of biohazard waste and other waste
  • follow directions for use of cleaning chemicals
  • clean, maintain and monitor equipment in good condition at all times
  • monitor, order and use linen in a cost-effective manner
  • report broken, defective patient care/room equipment
  • complete work request for repairs
  • perform other duties and projects as assigned
