Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work full-time night shift hours from 10pm to 6:30am Monday through Friday plus every other weekend
- Capacity to perform physical labor including bending, lifting, standing for extended periods
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient and visitor interactions
- Adherence to hospital policies, safety standards, and confidentiality guidelines
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication skills with patients and visitors
- Ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols and hospital standards
- Physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks and lift moderate weights
Job Duties
- Disinfect patient treatment, invasive care areas, staff and visitor areas to maximize infection prevention, enhance patient safety, ensure environmental compliance, enhance visual appeal of assigned areas according to policies and procedures
- Perform collection, storage, and disposal of general medical, biohazard, pharmaceutical, chemotherapy, sharps and soiled linen products from patient treatment areas in compliance with established policies and procedures
- Interact verbally with patients and visitors to provide directions, hospital information, guest room services, and general hospitality
- Perform project work including cubicle curtain changes, construction cleanup, floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, wall washing, refrigerator cleaning, and other assigned projects
- Prepare patient rooms, exam rooms and patient support areas for new patients including disinfection, bed making, floor care, and supply replenishment as per policies and procedures
