Job Requirements
- One-year previous custodial experience preferred
- valid California non-commercial Class C driver's license at most locations
- ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly
- ability to stoop, kneel, ascend/descend stairs and climb ladders
- clear diction and acute hearing for effective communication with coworkers and students
- availability for a 50% part-time, 6-month fixed term
- ability to work onsite with variable shifts including weekends
- adherence to safety gear and procedures
- ability to physically stand, bend, lift and walk for most of the shift
Job Qualifications
- Good written and oral communication skills in English
- ability to communicate effectively and cooperatively with coworkers, guests, other departments, and management
- knowledge of cleaning and waxing methods, materials and equipment desirable
- knowledge of custodial safety procedures
- ability to read, understand and properly prepare, store and use chemicals
- ability to maintain Safety Data Sheets manual
- ability to learn and apply safe work practices including hazardous waste and injury prevention
- demonstrated positive service attitude towards university community
- ability to respect privacy and property
- ability to support respectful workplace

- ability to operate communications equipment
Job Duties
- Organize and maintain equipment and chemicals securely and cleanly for use
- understand chemical preparation and maintain Safety Data Sheets manual
- clean a variety of floors and floor coverings
- clean and sanitize common interior and exterior areas including walls, fixtures, furniture, light fixtures, and appliances
- clean and sanitize restrooms, shower rooms, laundry rooms, and locker areas
- report emergencies, damages, maintenance needs, and safety issues to management
- clean windows and doors as required
- clean kitchenettes including appliances and countertops
- provide full-service support for summer programs including guest room cleaning and linen provision
- perform labor tasks such as moving furniture for events, replacing light bulbs and vacuum cleaner parts, and distributing newsletters
- perform light maintenance work like painting, faucet washer replacement, drain cleaning, and water removal
- demonstrate cleaning techniques and chemical use to new employees
- clean Resident Fellow apartments
- ensure key rings security and return
- adhere to safety guidelines and wear appropriate safety gear
