Job Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products and operation of standard cleaning equipment
  • Must have vision ability to see minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas, and to read written instructions and computer print-outs
  • Must have upper body strength to lift up to 50lbs continually throughout an 8 hour shift
  • Must have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture throughout 8 hour shift
  • Must be able to work with arms raised above head throughout an 8 hour shift
  • Must be able to maneuver fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50lbs through hallways and into/out of closets during entire work day
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals on a continual basis
  • Prolonged strenuous physical activity in indoor climate-controlled environment and excessive heat and humidity in laundry
  • Basic residential cleaning equipment knowledge such as vacuums, floor buffers, carpet cleaning equipment, cleaning cart, ladder/stepping stool, commercial washers, dryers and pressers
  • Being passionate about people and service
  • Strong communication skills when interacting with guests and employees
  • Reading and writing abilities used often when completing paperwork, logging issues, complaints, requests, information updates
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and/or holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or secondary qualification or equivalent
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or similar cleaning standards
  • Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles
  • Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to read and write for completing paperwork and logging issues
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating and training abilities
  • Passion for people and service
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Retrieves items from shelves and storerooms, sets up cleaning cart with supplies, constantly maintaining carts and storerooms in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in rooms, public areas and hallways, often using ladders or stools to clean hard to reach areas
  • Washes shower walls and tub, cleans toilets and stall walls if applicable, wipes exposed pipes, cleans mirrors, sinks and walls in guest and public restrooms
  • Replaces towels, soaps and all room amenities and restocks literature
  • Washes all hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures and wall hangings including vents and ceiling corners
  • Strips bed linen and remakes beds with fresh linens, checking for cleanliness and replacing if soiled
  • Checks closet cleanliness and restocks guest room supplies
  • Vacuums rooms, public areas and hallways, including underneath furniture
  • Inspects door and window locks, immediately alerts management to unsafe situations
  • Inspects room equipment (TV, lights, faucets, radios) and reports maintenance deficiencies
  • Secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys and supplies
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor
  • Assists laundry department by sorting, washing, drying, folding and distributing linen
  • Cleans patio/balcony areas by sweeping, hosing, wiping furniture and picking up garbage
  • Provides assistance to other employees and departments as needed
