Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education
  • up to one month related experience or training
  • ability to read simple words
  • ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers especially in money and measurement units
  • physical ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl regularly
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to talk and hear frequently
  • willingness to work in moderate noise environments
  • capability to perform duties involving physical effort and detailed cleaning tasks
  • ability to wear proper uniform including nametag at all times
  • ability to interact pleasantly with guests using their names
  • ability to timely respond to guest needs

Job Qualifications

  • Less than high school education

  • ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words
  • ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • ability to add and subtract two digit numbers
  • ability to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
  • ability to perform these operations using American money and weight, volume, and distance measurements
  • ability to apply commonsense understanding to follow detailed instructions
  • ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Job Duties

  • Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens
  • makes beds
  • replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies
  • cleans corridors and stairways
  • sweeps and scrubs bathroom floors
  • cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
  • dusts furniture
  • washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork
  • washes windows, door panels, and sills
  • empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays
  • transports trash and waste to disposal area
  • replenishes bathroom supplies
  • replaces light bulbs
  • scrubs bathroom vanity, toilet, mirrors, walls and bathroom fan
  • completes a quality check on the television, telephone, AC and smoke detectors
  • removes any items left behind from room and takes to lost and found with proper documentation
  • reports any maintenance related problems to the maintenance department
  • responsible for careful and efficient use of supplies issued for cleaning and maintenance
  • wears proper uniform including nametag at all times
  • achieves score of 90 percent or higher on room inspections
  • gives acknowledgment and a pleasant greeting to every guest
  • demonstrates thorough knowledge of in-house products and local area information to assist guests
  • displays organizational skills when stocking cart and timely cart stocking after completing rooms
  • maintains cleanliness of commercial area as a team effort
  • responds timely within 10 minutes to guest needs for housekeeping supplies
  • uses guest name at all times upon entering occupied room
  • resolves customer problems efficiently
  • checks all vacant rooms daily to ensure status is correct
  • maintains storerooms in clean, neat and organized state
  • displays team attitude and assists co-workers when needed
  • assists other room attendants upon completion of tasks
