Job Requirements

  • Six months of experience in commercial housekeeping highly preferred
  • demonstrates understanding of written and verbal communications in English
  • leads must have six months experience in housekeeping at Valley Medical Center
  • successful completion of the WorkSteps evaluation
  • working knowledge of computers highly preferred

  • able to work on assigned shift
  • able to work on weekends
  • works independently

Job Duties

  • Clean and perform assigned tasks in the assigned area according to department procedures
  • fill out assignment completion report daily and communicate to shift supervisor
  • communicate cleaning needs, maintenance, repairs and other concerns to shift supervisor
  • respond to customer cleaning requests in a timely manner
  • perform daily patient room cleaning and discharge cleaning following procedures
  • collect and transfer trash and soiled linen to designated areas
  • empty waste receptacles and linen holders
  • clean trash and linen collection carts
  • sweep, dust mop, and wet mop floors
  • auto-wash, machine scrub, burnish, vacuum, or polish floors as needed
  • wash walls, ceilings, and windows using appropriate cleaning tools
  • wash sinks, cabinets, and fixtures
  • refill disposable supplies such as towels, soap, and toilet paper
  • monitor quality and report repair or maintenance needs
  • complete special cleaning assignments
  • attend department in-service and education meetings
  • follow all policies and procedures
  • perform all other duties as assigned
