Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in housekeeping and laundry in a senior living environment desired
  • Desire to work with seniors
  • Ability to follow safety and infection control procedures
  • Ability to maintain privacy and professionalism
  • Physical ability to perform housekeeping tasks
  • Willingness to comply with drug test, tuberculosis test, physical evaluation, and background check
  • Covid-19 and influenza vaccination if mandated
  • Ability to work in a team and participate in required training
  • Understanding and commitment to Sunrise principles of service
  • If applicable, willingness to adhere to driving policies for Sunrise vehicles

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in a resident-centered housekeeping or laundry role preferred
  • Ability to provide housekeeping and laundry services meeting or exceeding quality standards
  • Desire to work with seniors and show compassion
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and infection control techniques
  • Ability to work semi-independently and demonstrate initiative

Job Duties

  • Perform general housekeeping duties in resident suites, public areas, and support areas while meeting or exceeding Sunrise quality standards
  • Clean resident suites, bathrooms, common areas, and offices including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming floors and carpets
  • Sanitize, clean, and polish lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures
  • Dust, hand shampoo furniture, clean and polish glass surfaces and woodwork
  • Respect resident privacy by knocking before entering rooms
  • Maintain housekeeping equipment and supplies in a clean and orderly condition
  • Collect trash and maintain trash receptacles and collection areas
  • Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, count, and stack linens following approved laundry procedures
  • Inspect linens for wear and tear and follow procedure for damaged linens
  • Maintain commercial laundry in a clean and sanitary condition
  • Assist Care Managers and Department Coordinators with resident care when requested
  • Practice positive resident relations and respond to resident requests
  • Comply with safety and risk management policies including proper storage of cleaning chemicals and adherence to fire codes
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and contribute to team success
  • Perform other duties as assigned
