Job Requirements

  • Ability to speak and read English
  • Prior housekeeping experience preferred
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions
  • Ability to use standard cleaning equipment consistent with the position
  • Good physical health verified by a health screening including chest x-ray or intradermal test within 6 months before or 7 days after employment
  • Pass a criminal record clearance prior to starting work
  • Valid First Aid card
  • Must be mobile
  • Willingness to work some holidays and additional shifts
  • Ability to handle physical tasks including lifting and cleaning

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Clean resident apartments including furnishings, fixtures, ledges, heating/cooling units, bathroom fixtures, windows, blinds, and shutters
  • Clean bathroom areas, entrances, exits, recreational areas, floors including sweeping, dusting, mopping
  • Strip, wax, buff, disinfect floors with caution and safety signs
  • Vacuum, shampoo, deodorize, disinfect carpets
  • Wash, wipe, dust, spot clean, disinfect, deodorize walls and ceilings
  • Remove dirt, dust, grease, film from surfaces using proper cleaning solutions
  • Maintain cleanliness of hallways, stairways, elevators
  • Discard waste/trash into containers and reline trash receptacles
  • Follow work/cleaning schedules
  • Complete resident and community laundry as assigned, iron resident laundry as requested
  • Report hazardous conditions or equipment to Maintenance Director or Executive Director
  • Remove trash and paper from all areas inside facility
  • Maintain assigned work areas free of hazards
  • Use protective equipment when handling infectious materials, hazardous waste, chemicals
  • Follow proper techniques for mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and cleaning solutions
  • Follow policies for use of labels and Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Report missing or mislabeled hazardous chemical containers
  • Maintain infection control and universal precautions
  • Clean bed and resident furniture upon resident transfer or discharge
  • Clean and stock cart, secure chemicals and housekeeping cart
  • Take mops and cleaning cloths to laundry at shift end
  • Attend scheduled in-services
  • Work holidays and additional shifts as required
  • Support marketing efforts through positive interaction during tours and communications
  • Communicate resident condition changes to supervisor immediately
  • Display tact and friendliness with residents, families, visitors
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, guests
  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions
  • Support a positive professional image through actions and dress
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance or Executive Director
