Job Requirements
- High school or vocational diploma, GED equivalent or combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 1 year preferred housekeeping or custodial experience in a service related industry
- Must comply with all state and federal guidelines applicable to custodial personnel in an institutional setting
- Must be able to pass a C.O.R.I. check
- Completion of training and proficiency in using internet, Smith email, payroll, and work order systems
- Proven good attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work in hot, humid, or dusty conditions and withstand exposure to cleaning chemicals
- Basic understanding of chemicals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Knowledge of cleaning schedule for assigned areas
- Physical ability to kneel, crouch, and bend repetitively
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials up to 30 pounds
- Ability to safely climb step ladders and multiple flights of stairs
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must operate cleaning tools and equipment safely
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Ability to read and understand operating instructions for equipment and chemicals
- Ability to complete assigned tasks successfully

Job Duties
- Clean, organize, and sanitize all restrooms including fixtures, showers, toilets, bathtubs, sinks, partitions, utility sinks, sani-cans, shower curtains, and mirrors
- Replace shower curtains and restock restroom supplies as needed
- Clean and organize assigned areas including common areas, student rooms, and guest rooms
- Dust, rearrange, and spot clean furniture and furnishings
- High dust woodwork, pipes, and fixtures in corridors
- Clean, sweep, dry mop, wet mop all tile hard floors and stairs
- Vacuum all carpeted surfaces
- Clean and sanitize all kitchenettes
- Change bed linens in guest rooms
- Empty wastebaskets and comply with recycling practices
- Report maintenance and repair items to senior housekeeper or supervisor
- Assist in documenting damages
- Complete project work such as cleaning fireplaces, dusting vents and light covers, checking fire extinguishers, vacuuming draperies, washing woodwork, interior windows, and piano keys
- Maintain cleaning tools and stock supplies
- Participate in team cleaning and support operations
- Assist with moving or rearranging furniture as needed
- Comply with scheduled cleaning frequency for assigned areas
- Train weekend student workers and assist during college events
- Project a positive public image and communicate appropriately with other departments
- Assist in emergency cleanup
- Review and implement department notices
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and meetings
- Complete required payroll and scheduling forms on time
- Perform other related tasks as assigned
