Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • high school diploma or GED required
  • at least 1 year of experience in housekeeping preferably in healthcare or skilled nursing facility
  • CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to obtain within 90 days
  • completion or willingness to complete infection control training within 90 days
  • effective verbal and written English communication skills
  • bilingual skills a plus
  • basic knowledge of infection control
  • understanding of chemical usage and safe body mechanics
  • flexibility and willingness to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
  • compliance with OSHA, EPA, CDPH, and other relevant regulations

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Maintains facilities in a sanitary, infection-free condition by washing, cleaning, replacing equipment, and furnishing
  • operates various mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums, polishers, buffers
  • vacuums floors and edges
  • cleans and disinfects medical equipment and therapy areas following facility protocols
  • ensures proper sanitation of dining areas, including tables, chairs, and floors
  • interacts with residents in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • follows strict infection control protocols including handling biohazardous waste and using personal protective equipment
  • disposes of trash, waste, and other disposable materials
  • removes trash and recycling
  • assists with unit turnover including floor care and cleaning appliances
  • handles solvents and chemicals ensuring compliance with government regulations
  • reports needed repairs to supervisor
  • cleans community rooms and common areas
  • dusts floors, furniture, and fixtures
  • cleans bathrooms and windows
  • maintains and stocks housekeeping cart
  • collaborates with nursing and care staff on cleaning schedules
  • communicates with team members regarding maintenance and resident concerns
  • participates in emergency preparedness drills
  • assists with laundry duties
