Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • four to six months housekeeping experience or training preferred
  • ability to understand, read, write and speak basic English
  • ability to apply common sense and carry out simple instructions
  • ability to work flexible shifts
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to work as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens
  • cleans multiple rooms daily including changing linens, making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, polishing furniture and fixtures
  • replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies
  • cleans corridors and stairways
  • sweeps and scrubs bathroom floors
  • cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
  • dusts furniture, washes walls and woodwork, washes windows, door panels, and sills
  • empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays
  • transports trash and waste to disposal area
  • replenishes bathroom supplies and replaces light bulbs
  • scrubs bathroom vanity, toilet, mirrors, walls and bathroom fan
  • completes quality checks on television, telephone, AC, and smoke detectors
  • removes items left behind from room and follows proper hotel procedure
  • reports maintenance problems to maintenance department
  • uses supplies and equipment carefully
  • wears proper uniform at all times
  • achieves score of 90% or higher on room inspections
  • greets each guest pleasantly
  • displays knowledge of hotel products and local area information
  • organizes and stocks housekeeping cart timely
  • maintains cleanliness of commercial area
  • responds within 10 minutes to housekeeping supply requests
  • uses guest names when entering occupied rooms
  • checks all vacant rooms daily
  • keeps supply room clean, neat and organized
  • assists coworkers and displays team attitude
