Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to three months relevant work experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Ability to partner across teams and with all levels of staff
  • Ability to work weekends and after hours
  • Preferred experience in commercial, institutional, or industrial housekeeping
  • Must be able to complete repetitive tasks while maintaining quality
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment as required

Job Duties

  • Maintain a positive attitude and good communication skills
  • Work effectively as a team player
  • Provide friendly and helpful interactions with guests
  • Project a professional image while in uniform and respond promptly to radio calls
  • Provide information and directions related to the Zoo’s mission, rules, and events
  • Report questions, concerns, and supply needs proactively to supervisors
  • Complete repetitive cleaning tasks while maintaining high quality
  • Work independently with limited supervision
  • Sanitize restrooms including sinks, mirrors, floors, walls and replenish supplies
  • Keep staff offices orderly through general cleaning tasks
  • Perform dusting, trash and recycling emptying
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum various areas
  • Remove trash and litter from public spaces
  • Follow personal protective equipment protocols when handling chemicals
  • Inspect supplies and adhere to safety policies protecting animals, guests, and staff
  • Complete daily job duty checklists
  • Support special events and work weekends or after-hours as needed
