Job Requirements

  • Able to work specified hours including Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
  • Experience in discharge and housekeeping duties
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning and waste disposal tasks
  • Visual acuity sufficient for duties
  • Effective communication skills including hearing and understanding speech
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to comply with hospital safety and regulatory standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
  • Ability to perform essential job functions including visual acuity and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Commitment to Avera’s mission, vision, core values, and social principles
  • Knowledge of safety principles, laws, regulations, and standards from CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, and OSHA

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean and neat environment in assigned hospital areas including patient rooms, offices, nurses' stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, stairwells, and lobby areas
  • Participate in all cleaning activities such as cleaning walls, ceilings, vents, lights, baseboards, windows, and replacing light bulbs
  • Maintain clean and neat floor surfaces including dusting, buffing, scrubbing, strip sealing, waxing, extracting, and vacuuming
  • Dispose of all trash appropriately including pickup, boxing, shredding, and keeping trash receptacles clean
  • Participate in relocation of office and hospital furniture and equipment as necessary
