Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in housekeeping in health care or hospitality service preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff
  • Knowledge of housekeeping procedures and practices
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload as emergencies arise
  • Ability to read and understand directions on cleaning solutions and equipment to avoid risks
  • Knowledge of MSDS sheets on hazardous materials and ability to understand guidelines
  • Compassion and genuine care for the elderly
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous work including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Availability for occasional weekend and holiday coverage

Job Duties

  • Clean and sanitize residents apartments and common areas by removing trash, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing baths and toilets, cleaning headboards and footboards, and cleaning glass following community policies and procedures
  • Replace and restock toilet tissue, paper towels, and facial tissue
  • Deep clean apartments and common areas as assigned following community policies and procedures
  • Shampoo carpets and furniture, wash windows and screens as assigned
  • Respond to residents cleaning needs in a positive, timely and respectful manner
  • Prepare apartments for move-in by ensuring cleanliness and welcoming environment, following checklists
  • Clean up after accidents efficiently while maintaining residents dignity
  • Maintain equipment and supplies in clean and working order
  • Report safety concerns, repairs needed, or problem areas to the Director promptly
  • Follow all infection control and safety procedures as per departmental policies
  • Maintain cleaning cart orderly and stocked, ensure safe storage of supplies away from residents
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents personal information and protect residents rights
  • Maintain professional appearance with clean, pressed uniform and positive demeanor
  • Foster positive customer service environment demonstrating honesty and integrity
  • Inform supervisor of low supply levels for timely replenishment
  • Ensure adequate coverage during meal service, assist with resident orders, drink refills, dining room cleaning, and preparation
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
