Job Requirements

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, or carry a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Must be willing to work weekends and possibly other shifts
  • Must maintain compliance with infection control and safety standards
  • Must complete required training and skill development events
  • Must be able to report and document workplace incidents
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of others
  • Must maintain sanitation and order in assigned areas
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Must be physically and mentally able to cope with job demands

Job Qualifications

  • Must have at least an eighth-grade education
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive criticism
  • Demonstrated tact and professionalism with residents and staff
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and utilize proper sanitary techniques
  • Willingness to attend training sessions and complete competency assessments
  • Capable of working harmoniously with others including emotionally upset or hostile individuals

Job Duties

  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks as assigned and document work according to facility policy
  • Coordinate housekeeping activities with nursing and other services
  • Clean and disinfect equipment using germicides or sterilization procedures
  • Report hazards, accidents, and unsafe conditions to supervisor promptly
  • Clean carpets, floors, windows, mirrors, and bathroom fixtures according to established procedures
  • Dispose of infectious waste in compliance with regulations
  • Use personal protective equipment when handling infectious or hazardous materials
