Job Duties

  • Perform general housekeeping duties in resident suites, public areas, and support areas while meeting or exceeding Sunrise's quality standards
  • Perform cleaning duties according to schedule in assigned areas such as resident suites, bathrooms, common areas, and offices including sweeping, dusting, dust mopping, wet mopping, spot cleaning, and vacuuming floors, rugs, carpets, and runners
  • Clean, sanitize, and polish lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures
  • Dust, wash, sponge mop, sanitize and hand shampoo furniture, dust desk and floor lamps, and clean and polish glass surfaces, woodwork, walls, and windowsills
  • Knock on resident's doors before entering and respect their privacy during cleaning
  • Knock on public restroom doors before entering and wait for response before beginning cleaning
  • Maintain equipment and supplies needed to perform work in a clean and orderly condition
  • Transport supplies, including clean and soiled linen, to appropriate storage and collection areas
  • Collect trash and maintain trash receptacles and collection areas in a clean and sanitary manner
  • Collect, clean, and redistribute community laundry
  • Sort, wash, and dry linens according to approved laundry procedures
  • Fold, count, and stack linens following approved laundry procedures
  • Inspect linens for wear and tear and follow community’s procedures for damaged linens
  • Maintain commercial laundry area in a clean and sanitary condition
  • Assist Care Managers and Department Coordinators with resident care when requested
  • Practice positive resident relations following Sunrise Shared Values
  • Respond to resident requests and direct feedback to supervisors or Care Managers
  • Review Daily Log to document and learn about resident physical and behavioral changes
  • Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored and locked when not in use
  • Keep cords, carts, and equipment out of way and in compliance with fire codes
  • Promote compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and fire safety rules
  • Practice safety procedures including PPE use, fire extinguisher handling, Safety Data Sheets, and Lockout Tagout procedures
  • Maintain equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage, and accidents
  • Comply with infection control techniques and bio-hazard container protocols
  • Participate as a team member working toward team goals
  • Demonstrate Team Member Credo and Principles of Service in daily interactions
  • Contribute to engagement programs including surveys and improvement planning
  • Attend regular meetings as directed by supervisors
  • Maintain compliance with required training and state or provincial regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
