Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some institutional housekeeping experience required
  • Must be able to understand and read English
  • Must have valid California driver’s license and liability insurance when driving personal vehicle on business
  • Able to stand, stoop, bend, squat and reach
  • Able to routinely lift and move items weighing up to twenty-five pounds
  • Able to use floor cleaning machinery
  • Able to operate a vehicle safely
  • Ability to maintain health and safety standards
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and protocols

Job Qualifications

  • Some institutional housekeeping experience
  • Experience mopping floors and stripping wax helpful
  • Ability to read and understand English for safety materials
  • Adequate communication, writing, record keeping and math skills
  • Valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving personal vehicle on business
  • Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, squat, and reach
  • Ability to lift and move items up to twenty-five pounds routinely, and heavier items with assistance
  • Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination adequate for job duties
  • Ability to operate floor machines and related equipment
  • Ability to use stool or small ladder occasionally
  • Effective team member who can assist in orientation of new staff and volunteers

Job Duties

  • Perform routine and unscheduled housekeeping duties according to assigned schedule and area
  • Clean and maintain floors using broom, vacuum sweeper, dust mop and/or floor machine as needed
  • Perform high and low dusting and clean vents, cabinets, baseboards, water fountains, restrooms, and other areas and equipment
  • Lock and secure offices, closets and other areas after completing work
  • Move equipment and furniture for cleaning, rearrangement, and relocation of offices
  • Pick up trash and debris from grounds and parking area
  • Replenish supplies and report needed repairs of equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures
  • Assist in directing evacuation in case of fire or other disaster
  • Work as a member of the team, including assisting in orientation of new staff, interns and/or volunteers
  • Represent the organization well in all contacts and maintain cultural sensitivity
  • Maintain familiarity with policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Attend meetings and participate in committees as assigned
  • Maintain health and safety standards of the facility
