Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous custodial experience in healthcare or hospitality preferred
  • strong written and oral communication skills
  • ability to comprehend and follow detailed instructions in English
  • physical ability to perform continuous movement including frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other use of hands
  • ability to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to operate motorized floor cleaning equipment
  • willingness to work varying shifts
  • adherence to safety protocols when handling chemicals and exposure to blood or bodily fluids

Job Qualifications

  • Previous custodial experience in the healthcare or hospitality industry preferred

Job Duties

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, beds, gurneys, examination tables, restrooms, offices, and common areas within the hospital environment to established standards
  • perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms and special procedure rooms according to standard procedures
  • collect and dispose of regular trash, regulated medical waste, and recycle materials
  • collect and remove soiled linen into appropriate bins
  • replenish hand soap, hand sanitizer, and other supplies as needed
  • dust mop floors with microfiber using standard operating procedures
  • wet mop floors with disinfectant using microfiber material following standard operating procedure
  • dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces, furniture, wash walls, clean and polish fixtures, air vents, handrails, blinds, windows and sills, and other items as required
  • handle various types of cleaning chemicals in compliance with established guidelines and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment
  • may be trained and asked to perform floor care work including buffing, stripping and refinishing floors, scrubbing baseboards, earthquake joints, thresholds
  • may be trained to deliver linen in accordance with medical facilities par level policies, stamp and document new linen, document salvaged linen
  • report any conditions requiring maintenance attention or repair to immediate supervisor
  • perform other duties as assigned
