Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience in cleaning or related field
  • Commitment to Catholic, Norbertine, and liberal arts mission
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Professional work ethic around students
  • Knowledge of general cleaning practices and equipment
  • Ability to learn advanced cleaning equipment operation
  • Polite communication skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning solutions
  • Ability to respond to physical demands including standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling
  • Willingness to work on-call and weekends
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in the cleaning field or related area

  • Skilled in general cleaning practices and equipment use such as vacuums, mops, and dusters
  • Ability to learn operation of advanced cleaning equipment like scrubbers, extractors, and wet vacs
  • Ability to communicate politely with campus community and visitors
  • Knowledge of cleaning solutions and their uses

Job Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness of academic and/or housing areas according to standards set by the Manager of Housekeeping
  • Vacuum, dust, wash and wipe surfaces, wet and dry mop floors
  • Empty garbage and recycling baskets
  • Clean windows and bathroom fixtures
  • Pick up small trash items
  • Perform deep cleaning during summer months including shampooing carpets and upholstery, stripping and refinishing hard floors
  • Set up and breakdown areas for special events such as graduation and summer conference programs
  • Provide cleanup after emergencies such as water or human damage
  • Communicate unsafe conditions, building needs, missing equipment, damaged property, expired fire extinguishers, and community requests to supervisors or Managers of Housekeeping
  • Shovel entrances of assigned buildings during work hours as needed
  • Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and equipment for the work area
  • Participate in on-call program and weekend work schedule
