- Must possess an eighth grade education

- must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics to function adequately

- must be able to push, pull, move or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry this weight 50 feet

Job Duties
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
- document as required by facility policies
- coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and recreational areas
- coordinate skill check-off verification and housekeeping-related competencies as required
- attend department and staff meetings
- contribute to the annual facility assessment
- carry linens, towels, toilet items and cleaning supplies using proper sanitary and safety techniques
- report all accidents/incidents to supervisor
- clean and disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides or sterilization procedures
- monitor environment for potential hazards during housekeeping tasks
- prioritize housekeeping requests involving safety issues and time sensitive projects
- clean vacant rooms as assigned and document cleaning and sanitization
- ensure proper disposal of infectious waste
- discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles
- ensure work/assignment areas are clean and equipment properly stored
- perform cleaning procedures per infection prevention and control procedures
- clean carpets and report trip hazards
- clean floors using sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing techniques ensuring safety signs are used
- clean rooms, hallways, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators and other work areas
- clean walls and ceilings
- clean windows and mirrors
- clean, wash, sanitize and polish bathroom fixtures
- empty wastebaskets and ashtrays
- perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned
- use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling infectious materials or hazardous chemicals
- wear safety equipment when lifting heavy objects
- knock before entering resident rooms
- be knowledgeable of resident rights and maintain privacy
- turn in all found articles to supervisor
- assist in searching for missing resident items
- follow established infection control, Life Safety Code, risk management and fire safety policies
- keep work areas free of hazardous objects and keep chemicals secure
- report hazardous conditions and improperly labeled chemicals to supervisor
- attend and complete required skill development and training
- provide orientation and mentoring for new team members
- participate in quality assurance and performance improvement projects
- work in all areas of the facility
- communicate effectively with residents, visitors and staff
- work beyond normal hours when necessary including weekends and holidays
- be subject to emergency call-backs
- attend continuing education programs
- handle exposure to infectious waste, diseases and hazardous chemicals
- adhere to ergonomic protocols and physical safety measures.
