Job Requirements
- Related experience at a level necessary to accomplish the job
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job
- Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and work cooperatively with other employees
- Must maintain regular attendance
- Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required including drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry
- Must comply with safety policies and regulations regarding employee and patient safety
- Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary
- Must be physically able to perform duties such as walking, standing, reaching, bending, crouching, grasping, climbing, pushing, pulling and lifting objects
- Must have finger and hand dexterity sufficient to operate equipment and communicate effectively
- Must understand and promote residents' rights and positive relationships
- Must adhere to Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policies
- Must be able to work in a health care facility open 24/7 with rotating shifts and during inclement weather

- Ability to follow infection control, safety and sanitation procedures
- Understanding of residents' rights and ability to promote positive resident relationships
- Capacity to lift and move weights up to 40 pounds and assist with heavier items
- Ability to work at a rapid pace for an entire shift
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to remain calm in emergencies and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to understand and apply training from in-service education
Job Duties
- Clean rooms and other interior and exterior facility areas including vacuuming, wiping, mopping, polishing, and straightening items
- Clean up spills, soiled areas and other conditions as observed or directed
- Ensure that equipment and work areas are safe and that procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials are strictly followed
- Properly store equipment and supplies
- Follow universal precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and promptly report any hazardous conditions or equipment
- Report all incidents and accidents
- Ensure cleaning schedules are followed and coordinate daily housekeeping services with other departments
- Maintain equipment and supply carts and ensure adequate supplies
- Ensure lighting is in proper working order and assist others in lifting as requested
- Comply with all company safety policies, regulations and requirements regarding fire, life safety, employee safety and patient safety
- Assist in patient evacuation during emergency situations if required
- Understand and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents' rights
- Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors and regulators
- Adhere to Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policies including documentation and reporting responsibilities
- Participate in quality improvement activities and other duties as assigned
- Ability to work shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary
