Job Requirements

  • 6 months of experience in commercial housekeeping highly preferred
  • Demonstrates understanding of written and verbal communications in English
  • Leads must have 6 months experience in housekeeping at Valley Medical Center
  • Successful completion of the WorkSteps evaluation
  • Working knowledge of computers highly preferred

Job Duties

  • Cleans and performs assigned tasks and projects in the assigned area according to department procedures
  • Fills out assignment completion report daily and communicates pertinent information to the shift supervisor
  • Communicates cleaning needs, maintenance, repairs, and other concerns in high visibility areas to the shift supervisor
  • Responds to customer cleaning requests promptly
  • Performs daily patient room cleaning and discharge cleaning according to procedures
  • Collects and transfers trash and soiled linen to designated areas
  • Empties waste receptacles and linen holders
  • Cleans trash and linen collection carts
  • Sweeps, dust mops and wet mops floors
  • Operates cleaning equipment including auto-washers, machine scrubbers, burnishers, and vacuums
  • Washes walls, ceilings, windows, sinks, cabinets, and plumbing fixtures
  • Refills disposable supplies such as towels, soap, and toilet paper
  • Monitors quality, reports repair and maintenance needs, and inspects own work daily
  • Completes special cleaning assignments as needed
  • Attends all department in-service and education meetings or reads posted minutes
  • Follows policies, procedures, and practices outlined in the Employment Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Insures adequate staffing levels if in lead position
  • Answers telephone and responds in a timely manner
  • Collects and handles waste and soiled linen according to procedures
  • Performs assigned tasks including vacuuming, carpet and hard floor care, and room setup
  • Performs tasks related to moves and project work
