Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ability to perform cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, stripping, washing and shampooing floors
- ability to clean and dust furniture, closets, telephone areas and vents
- knowledge of sanitizing sinks, counters, stainless steel surfaces and waste receptacles
- ability to empty waste receptacles and transport medical waste as directed
- adherence to OSHA standards for handling infectious waste
- reliable and able to work under supervision
- physical capability to perform cleaning duties
- effective communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience as a housekeeper or janitor preferred but not required
- knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning chemicals
- ability to work independently and follow instructions
- attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in a healthcare environment
Job Duties
- Sweeps, mops, vacuums, buffs, strips, washes and shampoos floor surfaces
- cleans and dusts furniture, closets, telephone areas and vents
- scours, polishes and sanitizes sinks, counters, stainless steel surfaces and waste receptacles
- empties waste receptacles and cleans solid waste containers
- transports medical waste to outside storeroom as directed
- uses room deodorizer as necessary
- ensures paper supplies are always available
- washes windows and walls, may involve removing draperies and rugs as directed
- gathers and returns needed cleaning supplies and equipment daily
- follows OSHA standards for handling infectious waste
