Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work flexible hours including day, evening, or night shifts
  • Ability to follow safety precautions and infection control procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

Job Duties

  • Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors
  • Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure
  • Use and maintain equipment properly
  • Assist visitors with directions when requested
  • Report safety hazards as appropriate
  • Transport trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area
  • Replenish supplies
  • Follow all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions
  • Maintain set quality standards when performing job duties
  • Work day, evening or night shifts as assigned
  • Observe safety precautions at all times
  • Clean and maintain carpet and tiled floors by using heavy equipment to clean, strip and wax floors on a rotating basis
  • Cooperate with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives
  • Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
