Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • previous cleaning experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • able to read and write
  • ability to measure cleaning solutions
  • alert to hazards
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • use of common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads
  • heavy physical effort with lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs
  • prolonged standing and walking
  • considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • able to work in precarious or high locations such as ladders or scaffolding
  • must pass pre-employment requirements including I-9, physical, background and reference checks, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs
  • compliance with mandated vaccinations and boosters

Job Qualifications

  • physical ability to perform heavy lifting and extensive standing and walking

Job Duties

  • Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings and equipment and mopping floors with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease
  • replenishes supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items
  • gathers and disposes of trash, washes wastebaskets and large refuse containers, and relines with plastic bags
  • uses damp, disinfectant-treated cloth and vacuum cleaner to dust windowsills, windows, blinds, floors, furniture, and equipment in an orderly fashion
  • cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls in bathroom
  • maintains and submits orders to maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies
  • maintains established departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards
  • attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed
  • performs other related duties as assigned or requested
