Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
prior custodial or cleaning experience preferred
ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and moving furniture
availability to work shifts including nights and weekends
ability to adhere to hospital safety and hygiene standards
basic communication skills

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
prior experience in custodial or cleaning services preferred
ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and vacuum cleaners
knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
ability to follow instructions and work independently
good physical stamina and strength
understanding of hospital waste handling policies

Job Duties

Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas based on established schedules and using prescribed methods
dry and wet mop floors
scrub and buff floors with roto and/or automatic machine
vacuum, shampoo and/or spot clean carpets
transport trash from collection points to designated area, compacting or placing trash into containers
transport clean and/or soiled linen to and from designated areas
move furniture as assigned
wash ceilings, walls, lights and windows inside and out and vents
clean up emergency spills when requested
maintain assigned equipment cleanliness at start and end of shift
report to assigned areas during fire and/or drill
strip and refinish hard surfaces as assigned
spray-buff carpet as assigned
dust and/or polish furniture and surfaces as assigned
empty wastebaskets and clean ashtrays as assigned
replenish room supplies in assigned areas
spot clean walls, windows and clean and polish metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms per schedule
sort and distribute clean and/or soiled linen as assigned
perform checkout cleaning as assigned
perform outside grounds cleaning as assigned
accept shift work as assigned
perform all other duties as assigned
handle infectious waste/hazardous waste as required by hospital policy and procedure
