Job Requirements

  • Supports the mission, resident life, health, and wellness philosophy, and code of professional conduct of BHI Retirement Communities, Inc
  • Understands and abides by employee handbook and applicable policies
  • Reports known or potential violations immediately to supervisor
  • Attends work as scheduled, maintains acceptable personal appearance and hygiene, and follows dress code
  • Understands and successfully performs job functions with precision and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and discretion
  • Exhibits quality customer service behaviors with kindness, tact, and courtesy
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully both verbally and in writing
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and complies with HIPAA regulations
  • Complies with required training including fire safety, emergency response, bloodborne pathogen control, and keeps required licensure if applicable
  • Reports any concerns to supervisor or executive director promptly
  • Physical ability to travel around the community, load and unload supplies, move furniture, sit, stand, walk for extended periods, and manipulate equipment
  • Ability to see and hear within established parameters
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and industrial chemicals possible
  • Contact with residents with physical, medical, psychological, or behavioral impairments
  • Physical stamina for labor including bending, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying
  • Follows standard safety and ergonomic precautions, uses approved lifting devices as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to acquire sufficient knowledge and learn new skills through on-the-job training and instructions to satisfactorily meet job performance requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior professional housekeeping experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Cleans resident units, bathing areas, lounges, offices, hallways, dining area, common areas, public bathrooms, and other rooms as assigned
  • Mops floors, vacuums, spot cleans carpeted areas, and empties trash
  • Dusts and/or washes furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Washes windows and sills and performs other annual cleaning functions as required
  • Cleans public telephone and drinking fountains
  • Cleans and sanitizes lavatories and toilet bowls inside and out
  • Performs written cleaning procedures and follows written cleaning schedules for common areas, resident units, and health center rooms
